The journey to Moab - Travelling

This will be a series of articles (because there's just too many pictures to post in one) about my driver and me and our Moab trip.  This has been months in planning and it was exciting to finally get to hit the road!

We could hardly believe it and I don't think the reality set in until it was all loaded up and ready to hit the highway.

Our buddy Erik double checked our straps and made sure we were all secure for the trip (and the first time trailering the jeep for us) and then saw us off!

Rockin out at 3 Rock again

Back to 3 rock for more exploring and this time we have more folks with us!

The day started out with a quick run to Big R.  Inspiration hit us for where to mount the hilift jack we carry when offroading and we needed some bolts and washers.  This is the result:

Those light tabs we aren't using are perfect for holding up the hilift and makes is very easy to get to if we needed it.

Next, we grabbed some donuts for the gang and went to our meeting spot where a few friends were already waiting.

Gauges, Gears, and Giddyness

In the last post we mentioned our rigs were off getting some upgrades...well the gears are done on the jeep and the gauges are done on the truck (as well as front shocks and brakes).  Boy do these upgrades make a difference!

With the gears, we didn't grab pictures before they went in but here are the gears that came out.

Campfires and sandcastles

It was another hot weekend coming up and it started feeling like it was time to find someplace cool to camp out.

However, my driver's Jeep was getting new gears and the truck was in for gauges and other work so we are stuck with no place to go, right?

WRONG!!

A few friends invited us to join them for some camping on the lake at Klinks Resort, which is not too far away from our home base in Spokane.  While we didn't have our camper, we still had a blast!

We hitched a ride from some other friends going down and got there a bit late as the sun started to set but little did we know that an evening of fun was just starting.

Penguins know how to make things shine

While others were sleeping in, BBQing, and watching fireworks, my driver and I (along with some friends) were working on the truck.

Ever since we bought the truck, the front chrome has been wrinkled and starting to peel.

Even the light bezels have a bit of wear and tear from over the years.

A trip to the junkyard got us some clean parts to replace all of it, however, and today was the day to get it done!

Marcus Island

Last weekend was Hoopfest weekend in Spokane and with storms on the horizon and temperatures rising, some friends of ours suggested we get out of town and promised me some waterfront views.  With a promise like that, how could a penguin refuse?!

Shock-ing the world (or at least Utah)

This penguin has been busy and totally forgot to post pictures of the shock game my driver took me to with some friends.

Touchdown!!!

Exploring 3 Rock Trail

Today my driver was going to meet with a group of friends to go up and check out a trail they've been telling him about.  Naturally, he invited a few of his friends as well to have fun with us!  However, it ended up that nobody showed up except two of the friends he invited and so nobody was sure where exactly the trail was.

So just a pair of Jeep Cherokee's (both on 35" tires) and what were we to do? (My driver tells me I should be calling them XJ's, after their model designation.  I suppose I shall appease him for now.)

Recall on the old Ford

A couple days ago, my driver and I were looking at information on our truck and noticed it had a recall service that had not been done!  We went online to the website of the closest ford dealership and scheduled an appointment!

We pulled into the service bay and grabbed a quick shot before going in and getting the paperwork filled out.

Starting off with Idaho X Rocks

On Friday, my driver and I made the long journey from Spokane, WA down to Nampa, ID to see some friends compete in the Idaho X Rocks competition.

This was the caravan we took on the way down.  My driver has the turquoise one and that's what I rode in.  There's plenty of room since it's just the two of us.
